ProMASS: Jan 23, 2017: Country paid homage to great freedom fighter, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose today on his 120th birth Anniversary. He was born on January 23, 1897 at Cuttack in Odissa. Several programmes were held all over the country to commemorate Netaji’s birth anniversary. Floral tribute was paid to Netaji at Samsad Bhavan in New Delhi. President Pranab Mukherjee paid floral tribute to Netaji’s portrait at Rastrapati Bhavan today.
The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has saluted Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, on his birth anniversary. “I salute Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his birth anniversary. His valour played a major role in freeing India from colonialism. Netaji Bose was a great intellectual who always thought about the interests & wellbeing of the marginalised sections of society. Honoured that our Government got the opportunity to declassify files relating to Netaji Bose & fulfil a popular demand pending for decades. Netaji’s Birth anniversary was observed in Tripura with usual patriotic fervor. The main programme was organized at Netaji Vidyaniketan in Agartala. State Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty inaugurated the the programme by hoisting National Flag. Speaking on the occasion, Tapan Chakraborty said, Netaji’s birthday bears a lot of significance in our lives. He also said, we have to be judicious to fulfill the unfulfilled dreams of Netaji. Academician Dr Braja Gopal Roy said, Netaji’s fighting spirit against British colonialism was unparallel.
A colourful rally, attended by more than 2000 students, was flagged of by The Minister. Eye-catching tableaux on various themes like Swachcha Bharat Abhiyan, Surgical Strike etc made the rally more vibrant. Several Government Departments and NGOs too marched along the rally with tableaux.
