Jan 30, 2017: Trinamool Congress MPs will not attend ‘Budget Day’ on February 1 and the Party will not even attend the first Day of Budgetary session on January 31, News agencies reported.
Earlier explaining reasons behind not to attend Budget presentation, Trinamool Congress said Budget day on February 1 has coincided with Swaraswati Puja which is a big socio-religious occasion in Bengal and henceforth TMC MPs will not attend Parliament on Budget Day.
However, later Trinamool Parliamentary Party issued a statement and said, TMC will not attend first two days of forthcoming Budgetary session protesting against demonetization move. In the statement, TMC mentioned Parliament was not taken into confidence before implementing demonetization and limiting cash withdrawals from Banks. The statement was jointly signed by TMC MP Derek O’Brien, Dinesh Trivedi and othe MPs.
