Apr 06, 2017:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi today laid the foundation stones of several development projects including a multi-modal terminal and a four -lane bridge over River Ganga at Sahebganj in Jharkhand. Speaking after laying the foundation stones, Mr Modi said, these projects will provide employment to the people of Jharkhand and skill development will also be boosted.
He said, development is the only key to improve lives of the people of the state. He said, the government is committed to serve the tribal communities through development.

Mr Modi said, their quicker development will lead to speedier empowerment. The Prime Minister said, several development works are being launched that will benefit the Santhal Pargana region. He also pushed for skill development of the people of the state.
Speaking about the multi model transport terminal, Mr Modi said, this is a biggest ever project in the region over the Ganga which will link Bihar and Jharkhand. The state of the art terminal, to be constructed at an estimated cost of 280 crore rupees, is an important component of the development of the National Waterway-1 from Varanasi to Haldia.

National Waterway-1 is being developed under the Jal Marg Vikas Project of the Inland Waterways Authority of India, with the technical and financial assistance of World Bank at an estimated cost of around 5,400 crore rupees. The terminal will have a cargo handling capacity of 2.24 Million Tonnes Per Annum.
The construction of the terminal will contribute to the creation of business and employment opportunities in the state, particularly in rural areas.
The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of a four -lane bridge over Ganga, that will connect Jharkhand to Bihar, North Bengal and North-East in a shorter way.

He also inaugurated Govindpur-Jamtara-Dumka-Sahebganj Highway. Mr Modi also dedicated to the nation Solar Power Facility at the Sahebganj district court premises and Sahebganj district hospital. He also distributed one lakh smart phones to women entrepreneurs under ‘less cash Jhakhand’ scheme.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu, Chief Minister Raghuwar Das and Chief Justice of state High Court Justice P K Mohanty were also present on the occasion. ( AIR NEWS)
