Apr 11,2017:Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stressed the need to ensure that the poor people’s trust in the NDA government at the Centre is not broken. In a tweet after a meeting of NDA leaders in New Delhi yesterday, Mr Modi said, the work on the NDA’s expansion will continue. In his concluding remark at the meeting, the Prime Minister asked his allies to connect to the youth as he spoke about his agenda of a New India. Mr Modi also laid stress on the issue of electoral reform, saying that NDA constituents should strive for evolving a consensus among political parties.
The NDA constituents, at the meeting, resolved to work toward its re-election in 2019 Lok Sabha Polls under the strong leadership of Mr Modi. The meeting also passed a resolution endorsing Modi government’s policies and called upon people vote him back to power in the next general elections. The resolution heaped praise on the Modi government’s performance and highlighted its pro-farmer and pro-poor works, besides its foreign policy successes. The meeting, only the second such gathering of NDA constituents since it came to power at the Centre in 2014, was also attended by the new friends the coalition has won over in Goa and the north-eastern states.
Briefing reporters in after the meeting, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that the popularity of NDA is growing in the country. Mr Jaitley said, the schemes being implemented by the NDA government at the Centre for the welfare of the poor are being supported by the people in the country. He said, the government led by Mr Modi has worked towards the growth of the country’s economy in difficult times and also strengthening the federal structure of the country. Mr Jaitley said, during the last three years of NDA rule, there is no charge of corruption on the government and an honest dispensation under the leadership of Mr Modi is functioning.
He said, a resolution was also passed by the NDA constituents who lauded the leadership of Mr Modi and endorsed the schemes and policies by the ruling alliance. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said the NDA is performing well and the recent Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections reflect the endorsement of NDA’s policies and programmes for the welfare of people. He said, now there is a need to maintain the continuity of the government. He said, ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the NDA partners talked about the sustainability of the government in coming years.
33 allies of the BJP led NDA attended the meeting which was chaired by the Prime Minister. BJP Chief Amit Shah also attended the meeting. Leaders of BJP allies, including the new friends it has won over in Goa and north-eastern states, were present at the meeting. Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray, Former Punjab Chief Minister and Akali stalwart Prakash Singh Badal, Union Minister and LJP Chief Ram Vilas Paswan were among those who attended the meeting.
