May 12,2017: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said, the biggest challenge to sustainable world peace is from mindsets rooted in hate and violence.
Speaking at the International Vesak Day celebrations in Colombo, he said, the menace of terrorism in Indian peninsular region is a concrete manifestation of the destructive emotion.
Mr Modi said, this region is blessed to have given to the world the invaluable gift of Buddha and his teachings. He said, he brings with him the greetings of 1.25 billion people from the land of the Samyaksambuddha, the perfectly self awakened one.
The Prime Minister announced that Air India will operate direct
flights between Colombo and Varanasi from August this year.
More than 400 Buddhist delegates from over 100 countries are participating in the conference focused on ‘Social Justice and Sustainable Peace’. (AIR NEWS)
