June 06,2017:    Prime Minister Narendra Modi has exhorted the Central government Secretaries to work beyond the silos of their respective ministries for the development of the country.
Giving examples like financial inclusion through Jan Dhan Yojana and universal immunization, Mr. Modi said, some of the best results in the last three years were achieved when the entire government machinery worked in unison, as a team.

In an informal meting with all Secretaries in New Delhi yesterday, he said the institutions must be made outcome-oriented.
The Prime Minister also made a strong pitch to rise above the administrative mechanisms of earlier centuries saying the Secretaries have an opportunity to transform the lives of one-sixth of humanity. He asked them to identify concrete goals to be achieved by 2022, the 75th anniversary of independence.
Terming the roll out of GST from 1st of next month as a turning point in the country’s history, he asked the Secretaries to proactively prepare for this transformation to ensure a smooth transition.
The Prime Minister said the world is looking at India differently today, and it is a unique opportunity which should not be missed. He also asked them to build mechanisms to meet global expectations.

Mr. Modi called for a mission mode approach to the 100 most backward districts in India and said specific goals should be set on various parameters in definite short time frames for these areas.
On Swachhta Abhiyan, Mr. Modi said that the biggest groundswell of support has come from the people, and that is driving change at the administrative level.
Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj, and Nitin Gadkari also addressed the meeting. Earlier, the Secretaries made some suggestions on various sectors of governance.         (AIR NEWS)
