July 26, 2017:    In Rajasthan, the relief and rescue works operations are being carried on in the flood affected areas of the state. Eight more deaths were reported in rain related incidents around the state yesterday.
Meanwhile, water to most of the flood affected areas including Sirohi, Pali and Jalore has started receding amidst comparatively low rainfall. A part of the Narmada canal in Barmer district has damaged following heavy rainfall in Gudamalani and Dhorimanna of the district.

Several villages in the Barmer district are submerged under the water following damaged of a part of the Narmada canal which affected the normal life in the areas. The army and a team of NDRF reached the area for rescue work. Rain water from Jalore and Sirohi is flowing into the district through Luni, Sakudi and Bandi rivers.
People living in villages and hamlets near the Luni river have been directed to move the higher altitudes. Administration has also shifted few families to safer places.

Meanwhile, Northwestern railway has canceled a Ahmadabad-Agra fort train for today due to water logging under the tracks and several trains have been diverted. After a good rainfall across the state, majority of the big dams are almost full to the capacity.
In Gujarat, relief and rescue works are running in full swing in the flood affected areas Banaskantha and Patan. 23 thousand more people have been shifted to the safer places during the last 24 hours from the flood hit North Gujarat.
Army, Airforce, NDRF and other para-military forces are also busy in distributing the food packets in the marooned villages. According to official sources, total 500 roads are closed in flood hit areas including 6 national highways and 26 state highways.

About 492 villages have no power supply, out of which 418 villages are in Banaskantha district. AIR correspondent reports that NGOs and Voluntary organisations have come out in big numbers for sending relief materials to the affected people.

Gujarat Chief Minister has cancelled the weekly cabinet meeting today so that Ministers can monitor the relief and rescue works in the affected areas. Narmada Mahotsav and Swagat Online program scheduled on tomorrow also cancelled due to heavy rain and flood.
The agencies engaged in relief and rescue operations are facing hurdles due to incessant rain and bad weather. Meanwhile, RSS and other social organisations have prepared the food packets and other relief materials and sent volunteers to the flood affected areas.

In Gujarat, several flights at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport have been diverted to Mumbai following damage to the runway. According to Airport sources, the patches have been found on runway after incessant heavy rains.

About 5 flights have been diverted to Mumbai today. This includes two flights of Air India coming from Delhi and Mumbai. This is the third time during this month that runway of Ahmedabad airport has been damaged due to heavy rain.   (AIR NEWS)
