June 27, 2017: All eyes are now focused on National Security Advisor Ajit Doval amidst hardened stances of China over the Doklam issue where Indian and Chienese troops are locked in a face-off for a long time.
AIR News reports: India has said diplomatic channels are making efforts to find a solution to the continued standoff between New Delhi and Beijing over Doklam issue.
Replying to a media query, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Gopal Baglay said, India would like to strengthen closer developmental partnership with China based on the Astana consensus reached when Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping had met in Astana.
Mr Baglay said relations between India and China are significant. He said India has already said that differences should not become disputes.
Asked whether the Doklam issue would be discussed with China as National Security Advisor Ajit Doval is in that country to attend BRICS meeting, Mr Baglay said the outcome would be known to media later.
On a query, he said cross border terrorism emanating from Pakistan is a threat to the entire region. He said, it is impacting lives and development.
Asked about situation in Maldives, the spokesperson said, India attaches the highest importance to its relations with Maldives and wishes to see a peaceful Maldives. He said India will continue to remain committed to provide its support for stability and development in Maldives.
