Tripura Regularize Ad-hoc Promotions
Agartala, Nov 24: Dr Manik Saha-led government has decided to regularize the ad-hoc promotion policy introduced in 2021 for government employees, subject to the final outcome of the Supreme Court judgment.
The State Cabinet has approved the regularization of the ad-hoc promotion policy today.
Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury announced the decision while briefing the media after the cabinet meeting at the State Secretariat on today evening.

Addressing the press conference, Minister Chowdhury said that the government had earlier adopted the ad-hoc promotion mechanism due to a pending case in the Supreme Court concerning service-related matters.
As a result, promotions of state government employees were carried out on an ad-hoc basis over the past few years.
According to official data shared by the minister, more than 13,082 employees received promotions on an ad-hoc basis up to June 2025.
However, after retirement, many of these employees were facing financial losses, as the benefits of regular promotion were not available to them under existing provisions.
Taking into account the grievances of the workforce and the broader implications for employee welfare, the state government has now resolved to extend regularization benefits to all eligible employees, including those who have already retired.

The move is expected to provide substantial relief and financial security to affected employees and their families.
“The cabinet has taken this decision while reviewing the overall situation and keeping the interests of employees in mind,” Chowdhury said.
He further added that the implementation of this decision remains subject to the final judgment of the Supreme Court in the ongoing case.
With the cabinet’s nod, the state government aims to ensure parity, streamline service benefits, and remove administrative uncertainties that had persisted for over three years due to the ad-hoc policy framework.
