Bishalgarh sub-divisional Hospital under Sepahijala District in Tripura suspended its services after one of the patients tested Corona positive. Samples of all the doctors and health care personnel were collected and had been sent to quarantine while all the admitted patients were released to curb possibility of transmission of Covid19.
Sources said, an expecting mother, who underwent treatment at Bisalgarh subdivisional hospital earlier, had tested Covid 19 positive later in GB Hospital in Agartala. As she was earlier treated in Bishalgarh Hospital, this prompted the hospital authorities to suspend all its services temporarily.
According to sources, samples of as many as 10 doctors and nurses were sent for testing who had come in contact with the patient.
Sub-divisional Medical Officer Dr JM Das said, “According to the information I have gathered from the hospital, a patient, hailing from Boxanagar under Sepahijala district, with intensive labor pain had been admitted to the hospital on July 1 last. After primary treatment she was referred to GBP hospital following her health condition. And, on July 03 last, she tested positive to the Covid 19. She underwent the test at GBP hospital”.
Describing the measures taken in the aftermath, Dr Das said, “As soon as the news reached us, we had released all the patients and identified those who might have come in contact with the woman. The doctors and other health professionals were also isolated for sample collection. The results of the already collected samples were yet to be declared and only after that any further decision on resuming the services could have been taken”.
He said, the entire ward in which she was admitted would be sanitized. “As per the guidelines, it would take a minimum 48 hours to complete the sanitization process. We are likely to begin our services after completing processes as per guidelines”.
