Dey captivated attendees with a demonstration of her drone technology skills. She expertly explained the purpose of using drone technology for agriculture and demonstrated how these drones are revolutionizing farming practices in Tripura.
“We’ve been chosen as Drone Didis from Dukli block, just outside Agartala,” Dey said while speaking to IANS at the event.
“Our training focuses on using drones for agricultural tasks like pesticide spraying”, Rupali Sur Dey said and added, in the traditional methods where farmers apply the pesticides, there is a high chance that pesticides miss parts of plants.
“However, drones ensure precise and uniform application, covering both leaves and roots of the plants. This boosts pest control, reduces pesticide wastage, increases farm productivity, and creates job opportunities for women like us”, the Drone Didi said.
She expressed gratitude to PM Modi for introducing Drone Didi like initiatives to empower women in the country.
“We’re proud to be empowered by Prime Minister Modi’s vision”, she opined.
The ‘Drone Didi’ initiative, a flagship program under Modi’s government, aims to integrate cutting-edge technology into agriculture while promoting gender equality by equipping women with high-tech skills.

Party leaders including Tripura Pradesh BJP president Rajib Bhattacharjee emphasized how these transformative developmental efforts have uplifted communities in Tripura and across the country.
Dey’s story resonated with attendees and visitors. “Success of Drone Didi in Tripura will usher a new dawn for rural women of the State. Apart from SHG program, Drone Didi initiative will serve as a powerful example of how government initiatives are transforming lives at the grassroots level”, a visitor commented after hearing Rupali Sur Dey’s interaction with the media.
“This is not just about technology,” another young visitor said and added. “It’s about giving women the chance to lead and contribute to our nation’s growth.”
