The 4th biennial conference of the Tripura Gramin Bank Retired Staff Association was held at Dasarath Deb memorial Hall at Supari Bagan in Agartala on Sunday.
A presidium for the conference, comprising general secretary of the National Federation of Retired Regional Rural Bank Staff Ganapati Hegde, Samir Debbarma, Bijan Dhar, Siddhartha Debroy, Krishanu Das, Fazlul Rahman and Kumud Bandhu Das, was formed.
The conference was inaugurated by Bijan Dhar, the chairman of the Joint Movement Committee of Tripura Gramin Bank Officers’ Union and Tripura Gramin Bank Retired Staff Association.
Retired professor of Economics at the Tripura Central University Haradhan Debnath attended the Conference as the Chief Guest. In his speech, Professor Debnath highlighted the prevailing overall economic situation in the country.
The keynote speaker Ganapati Hegde discussed the current situation of the Banks and the rights of retired employees and officers. He elaborated on the health insurance, Dearness Allowance, expenses for petrol and gratuity for the retirees. He also spoke on the danger of the privatization of Banks.
Besides, president of Tripura Gramin Bank Retiree Association Kalyan Roy also spoke on the occasion and several issues pertaining to the interests of the Bank employees and retirees.
General secretary of the Association Radha Mohan Sinha presented the Organizational Report and Treasurer Bikash Debnath tabled the Accounts Report. Total 11 delegates discussed and made suggestions on the Organization Report.
In the conference, total 157 delegates participated from across the State. Besides, the members of the UBI Retiree Welfare Association were present at the conference. Bikash Debnath conducted the programme.
A 21-member Executive Committee was formed for the next two years. In the new Committee, Subrata Majumder was selected as the president of the organization while Radha Mohan Sinha and Bikash Debnath were selected as the general secretary and Treasurer respectively. Swapan Das will shoulder the responsibility of the ‘Accountant’ of the organization.
