Ayushman Bharat: A boon for Tripura's underprivileged, says Dr Manik Saha

Ayushman Bharat Scheme implemented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi ensures quality medi-care for the economically weaker sections.

The government of Tripura is commitment to extending high-quality healthcare services to even the remotest corners of society.

Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha made the statement during a state-level event held at Prajna Bhavan, Agartala on Saturday. The event was held to commemorate the fifth anniversary of Ayushman Bharat-Jan Arogya Yojana and the second anniversary of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. 

Speaking at the event, he emphasized the government's dedication to enhancing health services and implementing measures to ensure top-notch healthcare.

The Chief Minister commended the impact of Ayushman Bharat, the world's largest health scheme initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in delivering healthcare services to economically disadvantaged individuals nationwide, which has also positively impacted Tripura's underprivileged population.

He revealed that 13,40,172 Ayushman cards had been issued in Tripura by August of this year, benefiting 2,54,511 individuals, including 3,993 who received medical treatment outside the state. 

Tripura received recognition from the central government on four occasions for its successful implementation of Ayushman Bharat, with 129 government healthcare facilities and 4 private hospitals participating in the scheme.

Tripura was also nationally acclaimed for its high utilization percentage in public hospitals during Ayushman Arogya Manthan in New Delhi, held on September 25-26.

Besides, the Chief Minister highlighted that  5,37,671 Ava cards were distributed in Tripura under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. 

The event was attended by health officials, including Health Secretary Dr. Debashis Basu, Central Health Official Dr. L. Swasticharan, Health Service Director Dr. Supriya Mallik, and other dignitaries.

Notably, several beneficiaries of AB-PMJAY were honored, and healthcare institutions were recognized for their effective execution of the program. 

The South Tripura district unit received recognition as the best unit in the state.
