Ayushman Bharat Yojana completes 2nd Year: Over 70000 patients benefited in Tripura

The Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) has completed two years of its launch on September 23. The Yojana was launched to provide accessible and affordable healthcare to poor people. Since its launch, more than 70 thousand treatments of worth Rs 31.65 crore including portability cases have been provided till August 2020 under the scheme in Tripura.

As part of observance of the second year completion of AB PM-JAY in the State, several awareness programmes will be conducted using different media platforms. The weeklong awareness drive will be conducted during September 23-39 with a purpose to reach the last mile beneficiary of the scheme so that no one is deprived of the benefits of AB PM-JAY.  

According State Health Agency report, among the 13,93,583 target beneficiaries of the state identified as per field survey, 11,46,280 individuals, more than 82 per cent targeted beneficiaries, were provided with E-cards. 88 government and 2 private hospitals of the state have been empanelled. 70,646 hospital admissions were covered under this scheme. Claim amount settled for hospital admissions is Rs 30.90 crore.

Number of portability cases (patients took admission outside Tripura)  is 316 and claim amount settled for portability cases is Rs 75.29 lakh resulting total claim amount of Rs 31.65 crore. Considering admissions in Government Hospitals, Private hospitals and portability cases, the total number of patients availed treatment stands at 70962.

Highest 55186 numbers of cases were treated for General Medicine category followed by Medical oncology.    

The entitlement of this scheme is decided on the basis of deprivation criteria in the SECC (Socio-Economic Caste Census) database. In addition, the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojna (RSBY) beneficiaries (card issued on or after 2016) are also included. There is no cap on family size and age in the scheme. To avail the benefits, beneficiaries need to establish their identity via the mandated forms of identification.

Under the Yojana, each member of beneficiary families will get coverage up to Rs 5,00,000 per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization through a network of Empanelled Health Care Providers (EHCP). Via National Portability feature, a cardholder of Tripura can avail cashless treatment in all EHCPs all over India.
