Birth Anniv of Bharat Ratna Dr BR Ambedkar observed in Tripura

The birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Indian Constitution, was observed in Tripura on Friday (April 14) like other parts of the country. 

 

A state-level program was held at Ujjayanta Palace premises in Agartala to mark the occasion.

 

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, SC Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder, Deputy Mayor Manika Das Dutta, and others paid tributes to Dr. Ambedkar. 

 

Dr Saha spoke to the media highlighting Dr. Ambedkar's dedication to ensuring the rights of the backward class throughout his life. He said Dr Ambedkar was not just a person but an institution.

 

The SC Welfare department organized a colorful rally with the participation of students from various schools to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Ambedkar. The rally started from Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan and ended at Ujjayanta Palace. 

 

In addition, Dr. Ambedkar was also remembered at the state office of the Bharatiya Janata Party, where the Chief Minister, along with BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee and others, paid tributes. 

 

Besides, Tripura Pradesh Congress also observed the Day and paid floral tributes to Dr Ambedkar today.

 

In another program, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of statue of the great social reformer, Dr Ambedkar, at Tripura Legislative Assembly (TLA) premises today.

 

Among others, the SC Welfare minister, Deputy Speaker of Assembly Ram Prasad Paul, Chief Whip of the TLA Kalyani Roy and others were present.

 

The Chief Minister announced that an amount of Rs. 50 lakh would be required to install the statue.

 

It is worth noting that the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, declared a government holiday on the birthday of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar as a mark of respect. 

 

Meantime, as people of the State is gearing up to celebrate Bengali New Year,  Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha extended his greetings to the people of Tripura on the occasion.
