BJP Raises Eyebrows as Gaurav Gogoi replaces Rahul Gandhi in No-Confidence Motion discussion

Dramatic Scenes Unfold in Lok Sabha as Congress Switches Speakers for No-Confidence Motion Debate

The Lok Sabha today witnessed high drama as unexpected changes unfolded just before the commencement of the no-confidence motion discussion.

To the surprise of many, Gaurav Gogoi, not Rahul Gandhi, took the floor to initiate the discussion on behalf of the Congress party.

This sudden switch prompted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to raise questions about the abrupt alteration in the lineup.

BJP members questioned the swift change, with one member stating, "What changed in five minutes? We were eager to hear Rahul Gandhi's speech."

When the Lok Sabha reconvened, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi addressed the situation. He disclosed, "Based on the information available to me, I've learned that a letter arrived indicating that Rahul Gandhi would be replaced by Gaurav Gogoi."

Joshi further expressed the BJP's curiosity, saying, "What transpired in those five minutes? We were enthusiastic about hearing his speech. Why the sudden change at 11:55 a.m.? We're keen to hear Rahul Gandhi's perspective."

Responding to Joshi's inquiry, Gogoi retorted, "We never inquire about the discussions that occur in your meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi."

Union Home Minister Amit Shah interjected, asserting, "He should specify; you, the Speaker, must clarify. This is a serious allegation."

Turning to the Speaker, Joshi added, "He has implicated you and the Prime Minister."

In response, Speaker Om Birla urged the members of parliament to proceed with the session.

Amidst the unfolding drama, Gaurav Gogoi took the floor to initiate the no-confidence motion debate. He began by expressing gratitude for the acceptance of the motion by the INDIA Alliance.

He acknowledged the support of those who stood with the alliance and stressed the significance of the motion. "This motion is driven by our compulsion to bring it forward. It is not just about numbers; it's about the people of Manipur and seeking justice for them," Gogoi stated passionately.

As the Lok Sabha commenced its proceedings, the exchange of words and unexpected turn of events marked a highly charged start to the no-confidence motion debate. (Edited)
