National president of BJP’s ST Morcha and MP, Samir Oraon along with Tripura’s ST Morcha leaders came under at Barmura in Tripura on Saturday evening. The leaders had a close shave, but their vehicles were damaged.
Samir Oraon along with state president of ST Morcha Bikas Debbarma, MDC Bidyut Debbarma, ex-MDC Patiram Tripura and others were returning to Agartala after attending a party programme today at Kanchanpur in North Tripura district. As their vehicles reached Borduar at Barmura, alleged Tipra Motha supporters attacked the vehicles.
The security personnel (PSO) had to open fire in the air to save the BJP leaders from the aggressive attackers.
After reaching in Agartala, Samir Oraon alleged that the Tipra Motha workers, who were returning from a rally, had launched the attack.
“It was our good luck that we had a narrow escape. A Bolero vehicle was vandalized. The PSOs had to open fire in the air to save our lives,” Oraon told reporters.
He also said, the Tipra Motha supporters already started indulging in ‘gundagiri’ and are harassing people instead of working for the people.
Earlier, an incident was reported from Barmura ONGC plant area in which some miscreants hurled stones targeting several vehicles carrying home-bound Tipra Moth supporters after a rally in Agartala today.
Three Tipra Motha supporters were reportedly injured in the incident near the ONGC plant in Barmura. The injured persons were taken to Teliamura hospital.
The Tipra Motha workers present at the scene staged a blockade on the national highway protesting the attack incident.
Police reached the spot and after a prolonged discussion, Tipra Motha activists withdrew the road blockade.
