In a strong demonstration against the ongoing atrocities on minorities in Bangladesh's hilly districts, the Agore Gumut Sulani Chakma Samajik Parishad submitted a six-point memorandum to the Sub-divisional Magistrate of Gandachhera under the Dhalai District of Tripura on Wednesday.
This move comes amid growing concerns over attacks targeting minority Hindu and Buddhist communities in Bangladesh, with allegations of violence supported by fundamentalist groups and the country’s military.
The protest began with a massive rally at the Gandachhera Dak Bangla chowmuhani, where hundreds of demonstrators gathered. The rally traversed through several roads in the sub-divisional town, voicing demands for justice and protection of minorities. Protesters concluded their march in front of the Sub-divisional Magistrate's office, where a delegation from the Samajik Parishad formally submitted their memorandum.

The five-member delegation, comprising Bikash Chakma, Nripen Chakma, Sagarjit Chakma, Jaymoni Chakma, and Gadaram Chakma, met with the Sub-divisional Magistrate to discuss their concerns. The memorandum outlined their demands for immediate action against the perpetrators and compensation for the victims.
Speaking to the media following the submission, Bikash Chakma, a leader of the Chakma Samajik Parishad, highlighted the severity of the situation in Bangladesh.
"Fundamentalists, backed by the Bangladesh army, are committing heinous acts such as looting, arson, and the rape of women, alongside the murder of minorities," he alleged. The memorandum, Bikash Chakma explained, was intended to be relayed to the Bangladesh government through the High Commissioner. He also underscored the urgent need for measures ensuring the safety of the country's minority communities and fair compensation for those affected.
Earlier, Chakma and Mog communities of South Tripura also rallied in Sabroom condemning the attacks on the Buddhists and other minority communities in Bangladesh. Also, in Belonia under the South Tripura, devotees of Ramthakur raised voice against the atrocities on the Hindus and others living in Bangladesh. Condemning atrocities on the Hindus and attacks on the temples, ISKCON-led Jagannath Temple in Baikhora under the South Tripura also organized a massive rally.
