Blue Mount School students from Behliangchhip, Jampui Hill visit Jampui Green Hill Park, Hmunpui, Jampui Hill, today as their weekend school outing programme. The visiting students not only have a pleasant time at the park, but also clean the place as well as part of their voluntary social work, and left a positive imprint for other visitors to immitate.
The park is an initiative and project of the Tripura state Forest Department in its effort to promote clean, green, eco-friendly and sustainable tourism especially in Jampui Hill. Not only that, the Forest Department has assigned the caretaking responsibility to the local community's Kim Kim Self Help Group (SHG) with a profit-sharing agreement with the group, who also collects entry fee and other chargeable fees from the users and visitors. This fulfills the government of Tripura's commitment to ensure upliftment of community through its tourism programmes.
The local community of Jampui Hill express their gratitude to the Tourism Minister Shri Sushanta Choudhury for his genuine interest and sensitivity towards promotion of sustainable, eco-friendly and locally profitable tourism; and also to the District Forest Officer Shri Suman Malla, IFS and to the Sub-Divisional Forest Officer Shri Suman Mitra, TFS for their special affection towards the Hill biodiversity and its community.
