Commonwealth Chess: Arshiya wins three Gold medals and One Silver, Aradhya shines with One Gold

Tripura’s chess prodigy Arshiya Das continued her golden run in the Commonwealth Chess Championship on Thursday. After winning two Gold medals in the Championship, Arshiya Das won her third Gold medal today in the classical chess category. Besides, she also clinched a Silver medal in the Open Chess competition.  

Meanwhile, in the Under-10 category, after missing out on medals in blitz and rapid chess, Aradhya, the youngest female Candidate Master from Northeast India, was unstoppable in classical chess from the beginning. She eventually emerged as the champion undefeated and won the gold medal.

Arshiya-Aradhya-Tripura-Commonwealth-ChessArshiya and Aradhya had virtually secured gold medals in the Commonwealth Chess on Wednesday. The focus was on the final round on Thursday to see how these two players would perform.

To clinch the title, Arshiya Das, the first female Candidate Master from Northeast India in the Under-14 girls' category, only needed to draw her final round game.

She adopted an aggressive approach from the beginning against her Sri Lankan opponent and secured a comfortable victory. With 6.5 points from seven rounds, Arshiya remained undefeated and emerged as the champion.

Arshiya won gold medals in blitz, rapid, and classical chess at the tournament. She set a new record by winning three gold medals at the tournament. Arshiya is the first chess player from the state to achieve this feat. She is now participating in open chess.

Matrix Chess Academy coach Prasenjit Dutta is delighted with the success of both players. He congratulated both chess players. On Teachers' Day, Arshiya dedicated her trophy to her coach Prasenjit Dutta.

The success of Arshiya and Aradhya has created a wave of joy in the state's chess community. State officials and chess players have taken to social media to congratulate these two golden girls from the state.
