COV spike in Tripura : 21 including CM test positive, one dead

Tripura witnessed the highest single day Covid19 spike in 2021 as a total of 21 persons including Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb tested Corona positive on Wednesday. The State also registered one death in the past 24 hours.

As per the official report, total 1134 samples, including 261 in RT PCR and 873 in RAT, have been tested in the past 24 hours. Among them, 21 people have been found COVID19 positive and one patient died.

The Chief Minister, in a social media post, shared the update of being tested positive with the COVID19 this morning. He also appealed everyone to follow the COVID19 guidelines.

“I have been tested positive for Covid-19. I have isolated myself at home as per the advice of doctors. I request everyone to please follow all the covid appropriate behaviour and stay safe,” Deb wrote on his official handle.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister underwent the COVID19 test in GBP hospital as a common man. His report came positive. He also underwent CT scan.

According to sources, the Chief Minister went to the GBP hospital without any prior information. While Deb took the hospital authority to a surprise, his visit to the GB hospital would strengthen people’s faith on the government medical system.

As per the advices prescribed by the attending doctors, Deb would stay in home isolation. During this period, the Chief Minister would oversee the administrative works over telephone.

Four separate medical teams comprising eight doctors have been formed to monitor Chief Minister’s health condition.

Meanwhile, panic among the people of Kailashahar in Tripura is running high after three fresh Covid19 cases were reported in Kailashahar within a span of two days. Unakoti District Surveillance Officer, Shankasubhra Debnath said this on Wednesday in Kailashahar.

He said, “Two persons tested Covid positive on April 5 and they hail from Gobindapur area in Kailashahar. One more person became Covid positive today”.

It is learnt that two persons of Gobindapur came from Vishakhapatnam recently and they were found Covid positive after undergoing RTPCR Test at RGM Hospital.

Another person who works with a Construction Company, NHIDCL, came to Kailashahar from Delhi.

All three persons have been put into home isolation.
