With the number of covid patients inching to 50- mark in Tripura after a respite, the North district Health Department is focus to generate awareness among the people to get the precautionary dose of the Covid vaccination.
Notably, with fresh six Covid cases during the last 24 hours, number of active cases surged to 43 on Friday.
While precautionary vaccination for Covid is one of the top priorities, the North District Health Department, in line with the Central government, is stressing on ensuring healthy mother and child as well as controlling AIDS.
Addressing a press meeting in Dharmanagar on Friday, Chief Medical Officer of the North district, Dr Arunabha Chakraborty said the Central government directed all the districts to take care in implementing the government schemes for the benefit of the people along with Covid booster vaccination.
Dr Chakraborty said it is important to bring the expecting mother and child under the monitoring system of the government for the welfare of beneficiaries.
He also focused on the need to generate awareness among the people to prevent the spread of AIDS through the usage of drugs.
Relating to the booster dose of Covid vaccines, he told the media North District is lagging behind. In the case of the first dose among the 12 to 14 years, 92% success rate was recorded but in the case of the second dose it was 81%.
Similarly, for the people belonging to 15-18 years group, 76 per cent success was recorded for both the 1st and 2nd doses. Similar success was achieved in vaccinating people of 18+ years of age group.
However, the picture is not encouraging from the precautionary dose in the North District, Dr Chakraborty said and urged the media to generate awareness among the people.
