With one more death, cumulative death toll in the State since the first wave stands at 922.

During the last 24 hours, highest infection was reported from the South District - 115, closely followed by West district where 110 fresh cases were detected. In other districts, 53 in Gomati, 44 in North, 39 in Sepahijala, 38 in Unakoti, 35 in Dhalai and 12 in Khowai district were reported.

Meantime, the administration of Sadar sub-district started the mask campaign in Agartala today. West district is steadily maintaining 100 plus Covid cases for past few weeks.

In view of the emerging situation the Health department made mask wearing mandatory and issued notifications to adhere to Covid appropriate behaviour. Despite, the alarming situation, people are violating the advisories and roaming around without masks.

The Sadar Administration took up an enforcement initiative in front of West Police station in Agartala today.

During the initiative, several people who were not using a mask had to pay a fine of Rs 200 as penalty.

Pity, despite repeated appeals and initiatives by the concerned authority, most of the people in the city seem to be ignoring the Covid threat and eschewing a face mask.

Administration held meetings with several Bazar Committees to ensure mask wearing - a look at the Maharaj ganj Bazar and other markets revealed that very few people were wearing masks properly.
