Corona spike remained unabated in Tripura on Thursday. As many as 480 persons tested Covid positive while 200 recovered from the disease during last 24 hours. Two persons succumbed to Covid. A media bulletin said this.

According to the bulletin, cumulative total of active Covid19 positive cases stands at 3482 while death toll reaches 423.

Amidst surge, Unakoti district in Tripura recorded the highest single-day tally of Covid19 on Thursday. Corona Tests were conducted among 455 persons, out of them 97 fresh cases were detected today.

Despite record spike in Covid19 positive cases in the district, huge gatherings were noticed at markets on Eid today where Covid norms were grossly violated, sources claimed.

Meanwhile, tension and concern among the people is palpable as Covid19 positive tally is surging.

Corona has hit the RGM Hospital which is also dedicated Unakoti District Covid Health Centre as two women associated with the Hospital tested Covid positive during the last two days. This has further raised the concern and worry among the local people.

Meanwhile, RGM Hospital is experiencing series of power cuts – especially power supply got disrupted after rains. The authority informed the SDM about power supply situation on Tuesday and accordingly a meeting was held on Wednesday.

During the meeting, concerned officials explored the possibility of using high power generator of Unakoti Kalakhestra which is located on the opposite side of the Hospital. Proposals were mooted to set up a temporary line and use the generator in case of power cuts. Steps have been taken to initiate the process, sources said.

Notably, MLA Mabaswar Ali was demanding a high power generator for the Hospital for a long time. He also raised the issue in the meeting of Rogi Kalyan Samiti. However, the demand is yet to be realized. Ali also alleged there is a shortage of Covid vaccines in RGM.
