Covid surge in Tripura: Physical Classes of I, II suspended

Recent Covid surge in Tripura led the State Education department to suspend and alter physical classes for students of Class I-IV. The State Education department has decided to suspend physical classes of class I and II as well as re-arrange physical classes of class III and IV with effect from Friday (April 9, 2021).  

 

Education Minister Ratanlal Nath has announced this in a press conference at his office chamber in the Secretariat on Thursday.

 

Nath said, while classes of I and II will remain suspended, the students of Class- III and IV would be allowed on alternate days—the students of Class III would attend the school on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday while the students of Class-IV would attend their classes on every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

 

He said the attendance of Class-V would remain as usual- however, Nath pointed out that any kind of assembly, sports, cultural or other events would not be allowed. Besides, he said, the hostels attached to schools will remain open and the students staying in the hostels even of Class I and II, in any, would continue to stay in the hostels.

 

The minister also said there is no decision on any scheduled examination while the normal activities of Government Degree Colleges, Professional and Technical Institutions would remain unchanged.

According to Nath, the order would be applicable for all government, government aided and un-aided private schools, Government Degree Colleges or any other Professional and Technical Institutions of the state.

 

Meanwhile, surge in Covid19 cases continues as 37 including the Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma tested positive in the State during past 24 hours, Official reports said. Notably, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb also found Covid19 positive on Wednesday (April 7, 2021).

 

As many as 1512 samples have been tested—1254 in RAT and 258 in RT PCR. Among them total 37 samples have been tested positive while eight patients have recovered in the past 24 hours.
