Much expected COVID19 vaccines are likely to arrive in the state by this month itself. The vaccines are expected to be airlifted from Delhi or Kolkata. Speaking to media at civil secretariat in Agartala Education minister Ratanlal Nath said this.
In the first phase, the trial run was carried out in three places- IGM hospital, Borakha and Gandhighat in West Tripura district on January 3 last, he said. The dry runs were conducted to check the detailed preparedness of the entire vaccination procedures including storage etc. In this connection, Nath said, the second phase of COVID19 vax dry run would be conducted in 80 locations across the state on January 8 next.
However, before the second phase dry run, on January 7, Union Health Minister will hold a video conference with health ministers of all states on January 7 next to review the preparations for COVID19 vaccination.
Meanwhile, he also said that in the wake of reports on new strain of COVID19, the state government had decided to send total five percent samples of total positive cases (RT-PCR) to NIV, Pune every month now onwards to keep a tab on mutation., Nath further told the media that twenty positive samples from the months of September, October, November and December each were already sent.
However, the report of the sample (Covid positive) that was sent to NIV for finding the new strain is yet to be available with the Government.
He also claimed that Tripura was holding fourth position in the country in terms of COVID19 recovery rate. At present, the recovery rate in the state stands 98.63 percent.
Elaborating the present COVID19 situation, Nath said there was no death in the state in the past seven days excluding today.
