CPIM Demands Swift Action in Brutal Murder of Pushpajay Tripura, Warn of Intensified Agitation

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPIM) on Monday organized a protest outside the Gandachhera police station in Dhalai District of Tripura, demanding swift action and the immediate arrest of the perpetrators involved in the brutal murder of Pushpajay Tripura.

The protest followed a massive procession that began at the party’s block office and passed through various parts of Gandachhera market.

Tripura-murder-gandachhera-cpimThe demonstration saw participation from key CPIM leaders, including Lalit Tripura, a member of the CPIM State Committee and a former MLA, alongside Dhananjay Tripura, the party’s block secretary.

Other prominent leaders present were Sushant Hajari, Sumati Ranjan Chakma, Shailesh Das, Archana Das, and Dasharani Tripura, reflecting the party's unified stance on the matter.

During the protest, Lalit Tripura and Dhananjay Tripura addressed the media, recounting the tragic incident.

According to them, Pushpajay Tripura was found in a critically injured state at an abandoned brick kiln near Gandachhera market on October 5th.

Responding quickly, fire service personnel rescued him and rushed him to the Gandachhera Sub-Divisional Hospital.

However, his injuries were so severe that he was later transferred to Gomati District Hospital and subsequently to GB Pant Hospital in Agartala, where he succumbed to his wounds on October 8 last.

After his death, Pushpajay's family lodged a formal complaint at the Gandachhera police station, identifying the individuals they believe are responsible for the murder.

Despite this, the police have yet to make any arrests, sparking widespread outrage and leading to the CPIM's protest, party leaders said.

Speaking at the demonstration, the CPI(M) leaders expressed their deep dissatisfaction with the pace of the police investigation.

“We demand immediate arrests of the accused. The delay in bringing the culprits to justice is unacceptable,” said Lalit Tripura.

The leaders revealed that while the police have assured them that the investigation is progressing, officers requested an additional week to conclude the inquiry.

However, the CPIM made it clear that if tangible results are not seen soon, they will intensify their movement.

The party also issued a set of demands to the government, calling for a government job and compensation of Rs 50 lakh for Pushpajay Tripura’s family. They warned of launching a larger agitation if the police fail to arrest the accused within a few days

Notably, adding to the tragic nature of the case, Pushpajay Tripura’s family has a long history of violent loss. His grandfather, Anand Mohan Roaja, and father, Gomanjay Tripura, were both victims of attacks by insurgents in the past.
