Derogatory comment against Tripura CM: Case lodged against KMC Mayor Firhad Hakim

A case has been lodged by a BJP supporter on Monday against Mayor of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation, Firhad Hakim in Sonamura Police station under Sepahijala district in Tripura.

Firhad Hakim visited Sonamura recently and campaigned for the TMC candidates contesting in the Sonamura Nagar Panchayat polls.

While addressing a poll rally at Sonamura, Firhad Hakim allegedly made derogatory comments on Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb.

Sources said, one Uttam Kumar Dutta filed a written complaint on Sunday and Sonamura Police registered the case under section 506 today against Firhad Hakim.

A second complaint was lodged by Sohel Rana against Hakim on the same issue on Monday. The second complaint has been tagged with the registered case.

Meanwhile, on the penultimate day of campaigning, all the political parties hit campaign trails today.

BJP held a massive bike rally while Congress held a Padayatra and later conducted a public meeting. Apart from the bike rally, BJP leaders and supporters conducted a hectic campaign throughout the day.

On the other hand, CPM activists are focusing on a door-to-door campaign in support of the party candidates.

All the opposition parties – CPM, Congress and TMC – alleged miscreants destroyed party flags and communication materials last night and blamed the ruling party.

Deployment of security personnel has been started in Sonamura. Jawans of para-military and other security personnel are coming to Sonamura and are being deployed to ensure peace.
