District Polls ensuing: Tripura CM makes big announcement

With the District Council Polls in Tripura are knocking at the door, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb made a big announcement pertaining to development in the District Council areas in the State. Deb announced that blacktop roads would be built in the entire Autonomous District Council (ADC) area by 2022.

He said this while addressing a programme organized to felicitate the head of Janajati Community at Chawmanu in Dhalai district on Sunday.

“The state government has taken a historic decision for construction and renovation of roads. Now, such kind of roads will be built which will not require renovation for at least 15 years,” Deb said, adding that a tender of Rs. 600 crore was already done for construction of roads.

Chakma-Community-TripuraHe also pointed out that the people of Chawmanu had never even imagined that they would get such a wide road but history was created under the leadership of MLA Sambhulal Chakma.

The Chief Minister said during his journey to anywhere, he comes to know as to when he has entered the ADC area as bad road condition is the indicator.

“In 2006, a PSU was assigned for constructing various roads. The roads were not constructed but the PSU assigned for the task had taken away the fund. Now, the state government has taken new initiatives to construct those roads and all roads in the ADC will be built by 2022,” Deb told the gathering.

“Our government respects the language of the Chakma Community. The Chakma Community gave us a minister like Santana Chakma and a young MLA like Sambhulal Chakma,” Deb reminded the gathering keeping the upcoming ADC polls in mind.

Addressing another programme at Gandacherra where the head of Tripuri Community, Deb said the main function of the then ruling Left Front was to bring all works under one platform—Melarmath party office, and destroy the system.

Their intention was to destroy the culture and tradition of Tripura but it had not been possible in the land of Mata Tripurasundari, he said.

At the Gandacherra programme, Deb also referred to the important role played by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to solve the long-pending Bru issue.

In the meantime, the Chief Minister had attended a separate programme in Agartala’s Swami Vivekananda Maidan where the Samajpati of Tripura Kshatriya Samaj- Purna Chandra Debbarma was felicitated.
