The Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) is actively implementing various programs under the banner of 'Start Up India, Stand Up India’. The objective of the initiative aims at empowering women and fostering entrepreneurship.
As a premier national institution dedicated to entrepreneurship education and training, EDII collaborates closely with banking institutions and the government to execute impactful initiatives.
One such program, the Micro Skillpreneurship Development Program (MSDP), sponsored by Accenture, is a significant effort in this direction.
As part of the MSDP, a 26-day training workshop was held from November 2 to 27 in the Madhuban Ranikhamar area of West Tripura District. The workshop brought together 50 women members of self-help groups, along with notable guests, including the Chief Manager of Indian Overseas Bank, the Panchayat Secretary, and the EDII Project Officer.
Speaking at the inaugural event, EDII State Project Officer Timir Chowdhury emphasized the program’s importance in enhancing financial stability and fostering entrepreneurship among women. He highlighted the role of such initiatives in driving social and economic development. The training focuses on production, processing, and marketing activities, particularly involving masru, and aims to create sustainable rural livelihood opportunities for the 50 women participants.
Madhuban Gram Panchayat Pradhan Shyam Kumar Das expressed optimism about the program, stating that EDII's support would help women in the area to become self-reliant, thereby boosting their families’ per capita income.
Similarly, Indian Overseas Bank's Chief Manager, Uttam Kumar Das, lauded the initiative, noting that the MSDP would significantly contribute to the socio-economic empowerment of women by equipping them with entrepreneurial skills to contribute to the nation's growth.
