Eye on Swachh Bharat: NGO conducting weekly cleanliness drives

Even amidst Corona threat, an NGO is working that cleanliness gets a priority at this trying period. In an attempt to generate awareness among the people, a Kamalpur based NGO in Tripura is regularly conducting weekly cleanliness drive on every Sunday in and around bordering Kamalpur sub-division aiming to make Swachh Bharat Abhiyan a grand success.  

 

The NGO, United Friends, in co-operation with Kamalpur Nagar Panchayat and Nehru Yuva Kendra are conducting cleanliness drives on every Sunday to aware and alert people about our responsibility to keep our places clean. The NGO is working In accordance with making Swachh Bharat Abhiyan a big success, members of the NGO said. 

 

Swachh-Bharat-TripuraAs part of the initiative, cleanliness drive was conducted on Sunday in a stretch between Netaji Corner and Apanjan Chowmuhani, covering around 750 metres area under Kamalpur Nagar Panchayat area.

 

Notably, the United Friends is continuing its service for almost a year. Members also assured that they would go on with the task in coming days as well. 

 

In the today’s drive, Secretary of Voluntary Blood Donors Association, Advocate Shyamal Kanti Paul and former Chairperson of Kamalpur Nagar Panchayat Prasanta Sinha, eminent local personality Prashanta Saha and local inhabitants including the women in a large number participated.

 

All the participants were wearing masks in view of looming Corona threat. They took part in the drive with brooms, buckets and other related equipments.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Prasanta Sinha said, "The NGO, United Friends is providing an invaluable service to the society and the nation. If we sincerely dedicate ourselves to the cause of cleanliness, the nation will surely become the cleanest one".

 

“Cleanliness in our places will keep various diseases at bay. For the sake of a healthy family, we need to ensure that we do not litter and regularly clean our places”, he added.

 

Furthermore he as well as the Advocate Shyamal Kanti Paul urged the people to abide by the COVID precautionary measures so that the society might overcome the pandemic.

 

“It is collective responsibility to adhere to Covid19 norms. We have properly wear masks and it is necessary that we do not crowd the public places like markets. If we follow the rules, we will be able to beat the pandemic”, dignitaries said.

 

They also urged the people of age above 45 to get vaccinated at the earliest.
