Fight over drug trafficking dispute: 5 injured in Tripura

Five people were reported to be seriously injured in the North Tripura District during a fight over a drug trafficking-related dispute.

The incident took place in the Uttar Hurua area under Kadamtala police station.

According to the details, Askar Ali and Chayad Ali, two brothers who live in Ward No. 4 of Uttar Hurua village, have been allegedly running an illegal drug business for a long time. They have involved a local youth named Abdul Moti in the trafficking business. In this way, their illegal drug business had been going on for several years.

On Wednesday, Moti came to Uttar Hurua from Dharmanagar Rail Gate area with a packet of drugs. He then was allegedly beaten by Askar and Chayad, who accusing Moti of not bringing the money in exchange.

On hearing the news, Moti’s father, Ganu Mia, went to the spot and was also attacked by Askar and Chayad. Later, when his mother, Kalchuboon Bibi, and Abdul Malik tried to stop them, they were also beaten up badly.

In the incident, four people were seriously injured and bleeding. They were immediately taken to Kadamtala Community Hospital for treatment. From there, two of them were transferred to Dharmanagar District Hospital.

Later at night, a case was filed against the two accused, Askar Ali and Chayad Ali, at Kadamtala police station.

The police visited the spot and started an investigation.

The injured appealed to the Chief Minister of the state to intervene as he had called for a drug-free state.

The victims demanded stern action against the two alleged drug dealers and ensure an end of the drug abuse in the locality.
