Four insurgents along with arms arrested in Tripura

Tripura Police arrested four insurgents including one belonging to UDLFB group of Assam from Takarjala Police Station area in Tripura on Tuesday. Three other extremists belong to banned NLFT outfit. Police also recovered arms and ammunitions as well as subscription notes and other things.

 

All of them were detained on Tuesday morning at Arjun Thakur Para under Takarjala police station that come under the jurisdiction of Jampuijala sub-division.  

 

NLFT-insurgents-TripuraAccording to the available details shared by the police, they were identified as Lalthanga Reang from Vandarima Anandabazar, Jiban Reang from Khedacherra, Gangaram Reang from Phludengsei (Tripura-Mizoram borders) and Singhamani Reang of Katharicherra under Hailakandi (lower Assam) Among them, Gangaram Reang had been identified as one of the self-styled lieutenants of the outlawed NLFT. 

 

Police sources revealed that Singhamani Reang who hailed from lower Assam was not a member of the NLFT and had links with another banned outfit of that locality. On being searched, the police recovered 1 9 mm pistol, 1 point 22 pistol, 1 point 22 magazine, cartridges of 17 rounds, 20 extortion notices, 2 sim cards of a foriegn company, two Indian sim cards of different companies, 3 mobile keyboards, an android phone, charger and Rs 730 cash from them. 

 

A case has been registered in Takarjala police station against them and one of them was shifted to NCC police station for interrogation. It is worthy to be mentioned here that DGP Tripura police in a press conference anticipated that several militant organizations of North East were trying to collaborate with each other and arrest of this Hailakandi based militant appeared to have justified his apprehensions.
