Friends Union upset Forward Club in a thrilling comeback

In the Shyamsundar Co Jewelers’ Chandra Memorial League Football, the tournament's underdog, Friends Union, defeated Forward Club after trailing 0-2 at Umakanta Mini Stadium on Thursday. This victory was primarily due to the overconfidence displayed by the Forward Club team. With this win, Friends Union secured their first victory in the tournament.

Forward Club took the lead in the 12th minute through a goal by Laipreklam Meitei. Despite continuous attacks, they couldn't increase the lead in the first half.

Early in the second half, Forward Club extended their lead through a goal from Langbam Meitei. After going 2-0 up, Forward Club's players became overconfident.

Seizing this opportunity, Friends Union's players mounted a relentless attack. Forward Club's defense was overwhelmed by the continuous attacks.

In the 52nd minute, Bobar Jamatia reduced the deficit for Friends Union. In the 70th minute, Prabir Jamatia, and in the 72nd minute, Bishal Jamatia scored to give Friends Union a 3-2 lead.

After falling behind, Forward Club pushed forward to equalize and managed to do so through a goal by Vanlalkima.

As the match entered injury time, football fans expected a draw. However, Friends Union scored again, with Bishal Jamatia netting his second and winning goals for his team. Friends Union defeated Forward Club by 4-3 goals. Referee Biplab Sinha showed yellow cards to three players from both teams.

Lal Moyan Kima was the hero of the hour for Nine Bullets, scoring the winning goal in the 25th minute of the first half. His quick reaction to capitalize on a fumble by Bloodmouth's goalkeeper proved decisive.

Bloodmouth fought back valiantly in the second half, creating several scoring chances but were unable to beat the resilient Nine Bullets defense. The Bullets' goalkeeper, Amit Jamatia, made a series of impressive saves to preserve his team's lead.

The victory helped Nine Bullets to secure 10 points from 5 matches. Bloodmouth, despite the loss, remains a strong contender with 7 points from the same number of games. Lal Moyan Kima of the Nine Bullets was adjudged as “Man of the match’.

The match was not without its moments of drama, with referee Raktim Saha issuing two yellow cards. The intense rivalry between the two teams was evident throughout the match, with players from both sides giving their all on the field.
