Govt sincere about welfare of Janajati people, spent Rs 9948 cr in last 2 FYs: Tripura CM

The government of Tripura and the Central Government are sensitive and sincere about the welfare of the Janajati people of the State and are working in tandem.

 

Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha made the statement in the State Assembly on the first day of the four-day Budget session on Friday (July 7).

 

Replying to Private Member’s Resolution moved by Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman, the Chief Minister also revealed the details of the total fund flow to the Tripura Tribal Area Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) by different Departments of the Government of Tripura.

Dr Saha said, total Rs 9948 crore was spent for the development of the areas under the TTAADC during the last two Financial Years.  Out of this, Rs 1143 crore fund was directly handed over to the TTAADC by different Departments of the Government of Tripura.

 

Janajati-Welfare-Tripura-CMThe Chief Minister also pointed out that funds spent through several Departments like Janajati Welfare, Social Welfare and Social Education, Forest, Education, Information Technology, PWD, Road Transport, Food, Horticulture and Soil Conservation etc increased in 2022-23 FY compared to 2021-22 FY.

 

Focusing lights on the State government’s plan for 2023-24 FY, Dr Saha said, a proposal for developmental projects worth Rs 364 crore has been sent to the Planning Department of the State Government.

 

Moreover, a proposal worth Rs 47 crore has been sent to the Ministry of Tribal Affairs of the Central Government.

 

Dr Saha reiterated the State Government inspired by the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is striding forward with a constructive mindset for the development and welfare of indigenous people of the State.     

 

Notably, the Budget allocation for the Tribal Welfare &TRP &PTG & Tribal Research witnessed marked increases over the year.

 

The Budget 2023-24 proposes a new Scheme Mukhyamantri Tribal Development Mission with an outlay of Rs 30 crore. It also proposes other initiatives for the holistic development of the Janajati.  

 

Besides, as per the Budget 2023-24 At A Glance, Rs 1080.64 crore was allocated for the Tribal Welfare &TRP &PTG & Tribal Research which was 3.91 per cent higher than the 2022-23 allocation.  

 

Compared to the 2017-18 FY of the Left Front regime, the increment in allocation in 2023-24 is noticeable. For the Janajati development, Rs 403 crore was allocated during the 2017-18 FY which more than doubled and reached Rs 1080.64 crore in the 2023-24 FY.
