Heartbreaking Tragedy: Tripura CM consoles grieving families of children drowned in Khowai River

Chief Minister of Tripura Dr. Manik Saha paid a visit on Wednesday (May 24) to the families of two of the three children who tragically drowned in the Khowai River recently.

 

The incident took place on May 21 while the children, namely Moutushi Das (12), Ankush Nama (7), and Khushi Roy (10), were bathing in the river alongside their grandfather.

As part of his itinerary in the Khowai district, the Chief Minister, accompanied by Chief Whip of State Assembly Kalyani Roy, expressed his condolences and offered support to the grieving families during his visit to the homes of Moutushi and Khushi, located in Moharcherra and Char Ganki under Khowai district respectively.

 

During these visits, Chief Minister Saha took the opportunity to extend his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families. Additionally, he extended financial assistance to help them cope with the loss they had suffered. The third child, Ankush Nama (7), who also met a tragic fate in the incident, hailed from Bishalgarh.

 

Throughout his visit, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of providing continuous support to the affected families. He instructed the relevant officials to ensure that the administration delivers all possible government aid to assist them in the days to come. Chief Minister Dr. Saha expressed deep sorrow over the heart-wrenching incident, which has sent shockwaves throughout the entire state.

 

"I am devastated by this incident. As I was in Khowai for the party's program, I felt compelled to meet the families who have lost their beloved children. I will also visit Bishalgarh, where the other child who drowned resided. No words can truly express the tragedy we are witnessing. While we provided financial assistance, we understand that it cannot bring the children back," the Chief Minister expressed with great sadness when addressing the media.

 

The Chief Minister's visit served as a gesture of solidarity and compassion towards the grieving families. It highlighted the government's commitment to supporting those in need during times of profound loss. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safety measures and vigilance when engaging in water-related activities, and efforts should be made to prevent such tragedies from recurring in the future.
