Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha pitched for establishing world-class Yoga and Ayurveda schools in the state by tapping the trade opportunities with South East Asia. He also emphasized setting up an Ayurvedic medicine manufacturing unit in the state utilizing the medicinal plants available in Tripura.
The Chief Minister was speaking at the ‘One Earth- One Health: Advantage HealthCare India 2023’ (AHCI), a G20 co-branded event held at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 6th edition of AHCI 2023 through a video message on Wednesday (April 26).
Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare & Chemicals and Fertilizers was present at the event. Apart from Dr Saha, Dr V K Paul, Member (Health), NITI Aayog and Prem Singh Tamang, Chief Minister, Sikkim were present at the event.
The event was also graced by Health Ministers of 7 countries (Bangladesh, Maldives, Somalia, Armenia, Bhutan, Nigeria and Egypt), along with Keshab Mahanta, Health Minister, Assam, Dr Dhani Ram Shandil, Health Minister, Himachal Pradesh and Bedu Singh Panth, Tourism Minister, Sikkim.
According to a PIB press release, “With the theme of ‘One Earth, One Health’, the purpose of the two-day AHCI event is to showcase India as the new hub of Medical Value Travel and its emergence as a major hub for world-class healthcare and wellness services. It also aims to highlight its significance in medical potential and create and explore opportunities for healthcare collaborations between the participating countries.”
Speaking at the inaugural session on the AHIC 2023, Tripura Chief Minister pointed out that Tripura would become the gateway of South East Asia, once the India-Bangladesh Maitri Setu in Sabroom becomes operational. This would create huge trade opportunities in the State.
He stated that the state government has been working with an evolving and progressive policy to improve the state's healthcare infrastructures and services in State.
Dr Manik Saha mentioned, many people from neighboring Bangladesh come to Tripura for treatment. The development of world-class treatment facilities in Tripura will also benefit the people of Bangladesh as medical expenses would be reduced.
Pointing out that there lies a huge scope for coordination between modern treatment and Ayush, Dr Saha also proposed the establishment of a border multi-specialty Ayush Hospital in the state, as the Ayush health service is popular among the people of Bangladesh.
