Land Allocated to Bharti Airtel for Cutting-Edge Data Center in Tripura, says State IT Minister in Assembly

The IT Department has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with M/s NIXI-CSC Data Services Limited to establish a state-of-the-art Tier-III Data Center in Tripura. 

M/s Bharti Airtel Limited, a telecom giant, has been granted 1 acre of land in the Lichubagan area for the construction of this advanced data center, which is set to attract over Rs 200 crore in investments.

The project is anticipated to create employment for more than 200 individuals, said IT Minister of Tripura, Pranajit Singha Roy during the state assembly session, on Friday . 

In the Assembly, he was addressing a private member's resolution proposed by MLA Abhishek Debbarma. 

Land Allocated to Bharti Airtel for Cutting-Edge Data Center in TripuraThe resolution, titled 'Encouraging Investment from Renowned National and International IT Companies in Tripura to Boost the IT Sector and Employment', seeks to broaden the IT landscape within the state and generate job opportunities for local youth.

Moreover, M/s PVM Inventis Private Limited expressed intentions to invest Rs 100 crore for a Tier-IV data center in Tripura, promising employment for over 100 people. 

This proposal was discussed by opposition leader MLA Jitendra Choudhury and MLA Sailendra Chandra Nath.

In his speech, the Minister highlighted the Tripura Data Center Policy 2021, launched to invigorate the state's economy and expedite IT industry growth. 

The policy's objectives include attracting substantial investments in the data center sector and fostering job creation. 

Under this scheme, 26 startups have received funding exceeding Rs 1 crore, leading to employment for over 135 educated unemployed youths. 

These startups, along with 127 others, are now registered under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), providing jobs to more than 800 young individuals.

Further initiatives include the integration of eight educational institutions into the New Generation Innovation Network, which has supported over 160 students with Rs 1.20 crore for 55 projects. 

Besides, Basis Fund Services Private Limited has set up an office in Tripura, offering financial services both domestically and internationally, currently employing 23 people. 

I-Logitron Technologies has also established an office for software development, creating 10 job opportunities. Seven more IT firms operate within the Software Technology Park, contributing to 75 job creations in the state.

Under the Chief Minister's Youth Communication Scheme, from 2020-21 to 2024-25, scholarships amounting to Rs 25.39 crore have been distributed among 50,771 students. 

To enhance digital education access, WiFi facilities were installed in 19 colleges last October, with the project recently extended to another 11 colleges.

The IT Minister underscored the government's commitment to transforming Tripura into a digital hub by incentivizing more IT investments. 

The assembly unanimously passed the resolution, signaling strong support for these developmental endeavors.
