Minor boy fatally stabs trader in Tripura over suspected theft

In a shocking incident in Tripura, a schoolboy reportedly stabbed a trader and left him grievously injured. On the way to the Hospital, the trader succumbed on Sunday.   

A local businessman of Melagarh Netaji Chowmuhani under Sepahijala District of Tripura sustained severe injuries after allegedly being attacked by a 16-year-old minor with a knife today.

The incident took place on Sunday after the accused minor identified as Timir Deb, a resident of Tel Kajla area of Melagarh went to a Xerox shop of 56-year-old Biswajit Debnath at the Netaji Choumuhani.

The deceased businessman suspected the minor student of stealing cash from the cashbox of his shop while he was giving change to the boy of Rs 500. The trader confronted the boy, local sources reported. It was alleged, the trader found cash amounting to Rs. 2500 with the boy.

An altercation ensued when Debnath asked the boy regarding the missing cash amount, the accused student allegedly took out a knife from his school bag and stabbed the trader several times. The businessman suffered multiple injuries on his body in the attack.

After hitting the trader, the boy ran out of the shop. But the locals of Melagarh Netaji Chowmuhni area managed to catch the accused boy while he attempted to flee from the spot. The boy was later handed over to the police.

The injured trader, Biswajit Debnath was rushed to the Melaghar Hospital from where he was referred to GBP Hospital owing to his critical injuries. However, Debnath succumbed to the injuries on the way to Agartala GBP Hospital.
