BJP MLA Sudip Roy Barman will be sent to Institutional quarantine at RSTI , AD Nagar with immediate effect.  He will be in institutional quarantine for seven days and then home quarantine for seven more days.

A communiqué in this regard was issued by the District Magistrate Dr Sandeep Mahatme after Roy Barman paid a visit to  Bhagat Singh Covid Care Centre and exchanged views with the inmates on Sunday.

The decision to send the MLA was taken in compliance with the Epidemic guidelines as he went inside the quarantine zone and came close to the infected inmates.

The SoP of July 4 last stated that any person including health care workers those who would come in contact with Covid 19 patients in Covid care centre would be ‘mandatorily’ quarantined for seven days ( institutional) followed by home quarantine for another seven days.

The communiqué said as per MoHFW guidelines only authorized and trained or designated in works would be permitted to enter the Covid care centre  and Roy Barman’s entry was in violation of the guidelines.

The communiqué from the district administration said the matter came to light to them from the CCTV footage and as such the MLA was required to have been quarantined as per law.

The DM also expected that as an MLA Roy Barman would cooperate with the administration.

The former Health Minister and BJP MLA along with another BJP MLA Asish Kumar Saha reported to have distributed fruits and dry fruits among the patients and listened carefully to the grievances of the patients.

“A video went viral from the Bhagat Singh Covid Care Centre yesterday highlighting the mismanagements of the centre. Though she had been shifted to GB hospital, her video touched me and I personally took initiatives to distribute some fruits and dry fruit items among them. There were altogether 280 patients. In some cases, attendants were also there. So, we had distributed 303 packets of fruits and drufruits”, he said after his visit.

On the complaints raised against the CCC, he said, “the cleanliness and other issues are being taken care of. The situation has improved as it has been seen in the videos. I have personally talked with the officials, Medical Super and administrative heads entrusted to maintain the CCC and the responses are positive”.

Meanwhile, the MLA  may face action for allegedly violating Epidemic Act and Lockdown norms.
