Mortal remains of Tripura braveson consigned to flames

Mortal remains of Tripura braveson, slain CRPF jawan Sambhu Roy were consigned to flames at his native place in Bhagyapur under Noth Tripura district on Tuesday in presence of family members, CRPF jawans, dignitaries and large number of local people. .  

 

Thousands of people joined the final rites of Martyr Sambhu Roy in North Tripura district on Tuesday. People in large numbers had started gathering in a ground near the house of martyred CRPF man since the morning. They were waiting for arrival of the mortal remains of Sambhu Roy.

 

Sambhu Roy was a COBRA commando of CRPF who made the supreme sacrifice while fighting the Maoists in Chhattisgarh two days ago.

 

Finally, the coffin carrying the body of Sambhu Roy, wrapped in Tricolor, reached his native village- Baghyapur. A deep pall of gloom descended over the entire area. Many of the people were seen standing in both sides of the road in Dharmanagar to pay their homage to the braveson when the body was being taken to his native village, Bhagyapur in Dharmanagar under North Tripura District.

 

Members in the martyr’s family as well as neighbours of the martyred jawans broke down into tears. The martyr’s mother had fallen ill following which she was not taken out of her room to see her son for the last time.      

 

Deputy speaker Biswabandhu Sen, DM North Tripura Nagesh Kumar Virappa, SP North Bhanupada Chakraborty, chairperson of Tripura Commission for Women- Barnali Goswami and many other local elected representatives were present.

 

Earlier, the mortal remains were brought to Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, Agartala in the morning flight where MP Pratima Bhowmik and many others paid their homage to the martyred CRPF man. From the airport, his mortal remains were taken to Bhagyapur where he was cremated. Relatives and local people of the martyr bade a tearful adieu.

 

Condolences poured in from all quarters and people of the State hailed the supreme sacrifice of Sambhu Roy. As soon as the report of his supreme sacrifice came out, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, MP Pratima Bhoumik and other dignitaries expressed deep shock and offered condolences. Deb and Bhoumik also extended sympathy to bereaved family members.

 

On Monday, media persons of North District, paid tributes to the martyr and lit candles in his memory.
