MoS Jal Shakti Dr Rajbhushan Choudhury tours Damcherra and Dashda Aspirational Blocks in Tripura

The Central Government has placed significant emphasis on enhancing the quality of life for tribal communities in mountainous regions through the Aspirational Blocks Programme. This initiative focuses on key areas such as health, education, nutrition, agriculture, foundational infrastructure, and social development, aiming for comprehensive growth in these hilly tribal areas, said Dr. Rajbhushan Choudhury, the Minister of State for Jal Shakti during his Tripura visit.

Dr. Rajbhushan Choudhury is touring Damcherra and Dashda blocks in North Tripura to monitor the progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission project. Over his two-day visit, he engaged in review sessions with state, district, and block-level officials to discuss project implementation.

Following a review meeting in the aspirational block of Damcherra on Wednesday, he inaugurated a water treatment plant in Halampara and conversed with the Jal Jeevan Mission's beneficiaries, expressing his contentment with the project's advancement. He stated,

"Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government is committed to creating a developed India, necessitating uniform progress across all regions of the country."

MoS Jal Shakti tours Damcherra and Dashda  Aspirational Blocks in TripuraOn Thursday, the Minister officiated the opening of a new drinking water source at the D.W.S office in Ashapara under the Dashda block in the North Tripura District.

Accompanying him were MLA Binaybhushan Das and North Tripura's District Magistrate, Debpriya Bardhan.

During a review meeting in Damcherra, Dr. Rajbhushan Choudhury underscored the importance of building reservoirs in Lunga (low land areas)  through dam construction on suitable lands, highlighting their dual use for irrigation and, post-treatment, as drinking water. The meeting delved into various 'Key Performance Indicators' pivotal for the development of Damcherra as an aspirational block. He noted that in remote hilly areas where conventional electricity might not reach, solar energy should be harnessed. His tour included interactions with beneficiaries of programs like Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Rural, members of self-help groups, and participants of the PM-Janman scheme in Manacherra ADC Village.

In the review session, BDO Anupam Chakma of Damcherra outlined the successful implementation of various development projects within the block. Dr. Choudhury commended Damcherra for its exemplary performance in health, agriculture, and rural livelihood missions under the Aspirational Blocks initiative, achieving a 100 percent success rate.

Among others, MLA Binaybhushan Das, Chairman of Damcherra Block Samiti, Upendra Reang, North Tripura's District Magistrate Debapriya Bardhan, Panisagar Subdivision's Sub-Divisional Magistrate Shushanta Deb Barma, and District Forest Officer Suman Malla were present in the review meeting.
