Curtains were drawn on the Durga Puja festival in Tripura as per the religious schedule on Saturday marking the auspicious Vijaya Dasami. On this day, Dussehra was also observed in the State.
At the ONGC Central School ground in AD Nagar, Agartala, ONGC employees organized a Ramlila and Ravana Dahan on the Saturday evening as part of the Dussehra celebrations.
Chief Secretary of Tripura, J.K. Sinha, was the chief guest at the event. The District Magistrate of West District, Dr. Vishal Kumar, ONGC Tripura Asset's Asset Manager Krishna Kumar, and the festival committee's secretary Rakesh Kumar were also present.
In his speech, the Chief Secretary, J.K. Sinha, said that Vijayadashami or Dussehra signifies the victory of good over evil and light over darkness.
He pointed out, Ravana Dahan is also performed on this day. Although Ravana from the Ramayana was a knowledgeable and devout person, his arrogance led to his downfall.
Sinha said Ramlila shows us the path of truth and justice. The Chief Secretary highlighted the rich cultural heritage of Tripura.
In his speech, ONGC Tripura Asset's Asset Manager Krishna Kumar elaborated on the traditional concept and significance of Ramlila and Ravana Dahan. Young artists from the ONGC family performed Ramlila on stage.
A large crowd gathered to witness the Ramlila and Dussehra celebrations. A giant effigy of Ravana was burnt. The school ground was filled with festive fervor.
