Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has extended gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Urban Development Giriraj Singh for releasing the first installment under PMAY-G in such a speedy manner.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi transferred the 1st installment of PMAY-G to more than 1.47 lakh beneficiaries of Tripura on Sunday in a virtual programme.
Speaking to the media after the virtual event in which the Prime Minister released Rs. 709 crore on Sunday, Deb said, “today is a historic day for Tripura. This is for the first time that such a large amount directly reached to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.”
“Sanction of houses (1.59 lakh) on such a large scale has been possible as the Prime Minister approved change in guidelines of PMAY-G specially for Tripura and Assam,” he said, adding that more 70,000 houses (which are in form D) would be given by March or April next. Besides, more 22,000 houses which are now under processing would also come up, he added.
The Chief Minister also acknowledged the efforts of Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma in the entire process.
As a mark of gratitude, the Chief Minister has also changed his social media profile. In a Facebook post, Deb wrote, “#TripuraThanksModiJi for releasing 1st instalment of Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana - Gramin (PMAY-G). As a symbol of gratitude to Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji from 37 Lakh people of #Tripura, I am changing my profile picture on Social Media”.
