Tripura Pradesh BJP vehemently condemned the security breach during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Punjab visit on Wednesday. Raising voice against the incident, BJP on Thursday held torch rallies in all eight districts of the state.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb led the state-level rally commencing from BJP state office in Agartala and traversed through the city roads in the evening. Local MLAs and leaders led the rallies in district level amidst participation of large number of party workers.
Condemning the incident Deb breathed fire and termed it as ‘cowardly act and conspiracy of Congress’. He said the countrymen would never forgive Congress for its dirty politics. The Congress would get a befitting reply from the people of Punjab and the entire country, he said.
The Chief Minister also offered puja at Meher Kalibari in Agartala and prayed for good health and long life of the Prime Minister.
“May lord Shiva protect our Adarniya Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji from all the evil forces & grant him an Aarogya Jeevan. #LongLivePMModi,” he tweeted.
In a separate tweet, Deb strongly condemned the act of Punjab government and said it had affected the democratic principles and sent a wrong message as the protestors were given access to the PM’s route even after giving the prior notice to the state government officials—it was really worrisome as far as PM's security was concerned.
Meanwhile, addressing a press conference at the state office on Thursday, Tripura BJP spokesman Subrata Chakraborty blamed the Congress for the whole incident and said it was ‘harmful for the democracy’.
He said that no Prime Minister of the country witnessed such incident before, not even in any terrorist-prone zone or Naxal-Maoist controlled areas; it was a black day for India’s history.
Apart from this, various units of the Tripura BJP initiated week-long programmes across the state to register their protest against the incident, said Chakraborty.
