Tripura is readying its preparations in full scale to meet the Covid issue on two fronts – rolling out Covid19 vaccination and meeting any eventuality in case anyone is found infected with the new strain of coronavirus.
Education Minister of Tripura, Ratanlal Nath detailed on both the aspects in a press conference at Civil Secretariat on Tuesday.
On the preparations for combating threat of new strain, Nath said the state government already started a process for purchasing a Sequencing Machine in view of the new strain of the virus. Moreover, the Government has also made arrangements and identified PRTI Women’s Hostel as a quarantine centre in case of any positive case having new strain found.
According to Nath, the government had traced the arrival of total five international travellers (UK returnees) in the state between November 25 and December 28.
“Among them one traveller has tested COVID19 positive. He has been sent to home isolation. The sample has been sent to National institute of Virology, Pune for confirming if it’s a case of new strain. The result is yet to come,” Nath said.
He also claimed that tests of total 25 persons, who came in contact of the positive case, had already been conducted and all the reports were found negative. Besides, all the foreign travellers, who arrived in the state after November 25, had undergone RT-PCT test, even if someone was asymptomatic.
Briefing media on readiness for Covid vaccination, Nath said that the government had already put all the necessary preparations in place to roll out COVID19 vaccination.
“As of now, 44,521 health workers and 2263 session sites have been identified and the database has been uploaded in the government portal. Besides, 1429 vaccinators have been kept ready while six team members for each session team have already been identified,” Nath told the Media. He said the state-level vaccine store will be at Gurkhabasti and all districts would have separate vaccine stores.
