An eminent entrepreneur from Tripura and proprietor of Sister Guro Masala ( powder spices), Gautam Paul passed away at Kolkata's Rabindranath Tagore Hospital on Monday.
His mortal remains will be brought back to his home in Agartala on Tuesday. According to family members, his final rites will be held on the same day at Battala crematorium in Agartala.
Gautam Paul had undergone a kidney transplant on December 7, which initially appeared successful, but his condition deteriorated shortly afterward. Tragically, he succumbed to complications on Monday morning in the hospital's ICU.
Family sources said, he was diagnosed with diabetes in 1993, a condition he managed well for many years. However, complications from the illness eventually led to severe kidney damage, requiring a transplant.
The procedure was performed by Dr. Prateek Das and his team at Rabindranath Tagore Hospital, and initial reports suggested it was successful. Unfortunately, his health took a turn for the worse, and he passed away today.
His passing has left a profound sense of grief among his friends, family, and the community.
Several noted persons including Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury and others expressed deep sorrow.
Expressing his grief Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said, "I am deeply saddened by the sudden demise of Shri Gautam Paul, a distinguished industrialist of the state and the head of Sister Powder Masala.
I pray to God for the peace of his departed soul and express my deepest condolences to the bereaved family and friends. Om Shanti."

Son of Moti Pal, Gautam Paul carved a niche in the business world, earning acclaim for his entrepreneurial ventures. Taking charge of the family business of spices, Gautam Paul established Sister Guro Masala as one of the most recognised and popular spice brand across Tripura.
Known as a benevolent supporter of social and cultural initiatives throughout his life, Gautam Paul is survived by his elderly mother, wife Soma Pal and two daughters.
His mortal remains will be brought from Kolkata to Agartala tomorrow.
