As the historic Ram temple in Ayodhya is set to be consecrated on Monday, Agartala will join the celebrations by conducting a Maha Yagna at the Durga Bari temple, announced Dipak Majumder, the mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), on Sunday.
The Maha Yagna, which will be performed by Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and other BJP leaders, is an initiative of the 8-Town Bordowali Mandal of the party. It will take place just before the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple, which will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other dignitaries.
"We will participate in the auspicious occasion from our state by watching the live telecast of the ceremony and listening to the Prime Minister's speech from Ayodhya on Monday afternoon," Majumder said at a press conference in Agartala.
"After the Maha Yagna, we will distribute prasad to the devotees in Durga Bari temple and other temples on Monday morning," he added.
He also said that the BJP had launched a cleanliness drive in various temples across the state to mark the occasion.
Meantime, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal on the consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir, Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha attended the Swachata Abhiyan at four temples in the state, including the Tripura Sundari temple and Kasba Kali Bari, on Sunday.
He also participated in the cleanliness drive at Anandamayee Kalibari and Lakshmi Narayan Bari temple premises in Agartala on the same day.
He remarked, “No more days, only waiting for hours and moments. The historic Ram Mandir is set to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 22, 2024. We often speak of Ram Rajya, and the Prime Minister is also envisioning governance in that spirit. Efforts are underway to lead the country in the manner Ram did. In response to the Prime Minister's call, a Swachata Abhiyan is being conducted simultaneously in temples and religious places across the state from January 14. It is gratifying to participate in such a program in response to the Prime Minister's call.”
On this occasion, Mayor Dipak Majumder, MLAs Abhishek Debroy, Antara Deb Sarkar, and others were present.
