Riding on Saptajit's ton, Tripura rebound but Goa clinch points in Cooch Behar Trophy

All eyes were focused on Tripura's Under-19 boys as they were playing against Goa in Cooch Behar Trophy Cricket at the Panjim Cricket Stadium in Goa on Monday.

Tripura batters did well in the second innings as they scored 334 for 9 (declared) on the last day of the match. Saptajit Das of Tripura scored a century and remained unbeaten.

Goa needed 300 runs to win and Tripura boys needed to all out the Goa players. Even as the match ended in a draw, Goa won the match with 3 points by virtue of leading in the first innings. 

Today. the hosts needed 300 runs to win on the last day and Goa managed to score 201 runs in 80 overs, losing 5 wickets.

Earlier, Goa scored 215 runs in the first innings in response to Tripura's 180 runs. Tripura trailed by 35 runs. However, in the 2nd innings, Tripura strongly rebounded and scored 334 runs losing 9 wickets. As the match ended in a draw, Goa won 3 points by leading in the first innings, while Tripura got 1 point.

Starting the day with 7 wickets for 287 runs on the third day, Tripura batsmen focused on scoring runs quickly on Monday. Everyone's attention was on Saptaji Das on this day and Saptaji did not disappoint. 

He scored his second century of his career with the help of 15 boundaries in 170 balls. Finally, after scoring 334 runs, losing 9 wickets in 103.2 overs, Tripura declared the innings. 

Saptaji remained unbeaten on 101 runs off 171 balls. Vishal Sinha scored 11 with the help of 1 boundary and 1 over boundary off 14 balls, and Arkajit scored 16 with the help of 4 boundaries off 12 balls.

For Goa, Srivanka Deshai took 3 wickets for 27 runs, Punedlik Naik took 2 wickets for 71 runs, and Yuvraj Singh took 2 wickets for 115 runs.

Playing with the target of getting 300 runs, Goa scored 210 runs in 80 overs, losing 5 wickets till the last ball of the day. For Goa, Nishang Nagvekar scored 42 runs with the help of 5 boundaries off 130 balls, and Chittam Javanakkumar remained unbeaten on 30 runs off 91 balls with the help of 7 boundaries. 

Besides, Shantanu Nabhagi scored 52 runs with the help of 7 boundaries off 113 balls, Veer Yadav scored 35 runs with the help of 5 boundaries and 2 over boundaries off 53 balls, and Yash Kashwankar scored 22 runs with the help of 3 boundaries off 41 balls.
For Tripura, Saptaji Dal took 2 wickets for 28 runs.

In the tournament, Tripura's fourth opponent is Mumbai. The match will be held in Agartala from December 8.
