Rs 40 Cr allocated for Thematic Gallery, Planetarium in Agartala: Kishan Reddy writes to Pratima

The central government has allocated Rs 40 crore for the construction of a thematic gallery and planetarium at the Science City in Agartala under the West Tripura Constituency.

In a letter, Union Minister of Culture and Tourism G Kishan Reddy informed Union Minister of State Pratima Bhoumik about the development.  

In his letter, G Kishan Reddy said, “You may be glad to know that Ministry of Culture, Government of India has a unique scheme called 'Scheme for Promotion of Culture of Science (SPoCS)' under which based on the requests from different State Governments/UTs, Science Cities/Centres/Digital Planetarium & Innovation Hubs in Science Centres etc. are set up with joint funding of Government of India and  States/UT Govt.”

Kishan Reddy also elaborated on the funding pattern. He wrote, “ I am further pleased to inform that under this Scheme, development of Thematic Galleries and Planetarium has been approved to be set up in the State of Tripura and in your constituency i.e. Agartala at a total cost of Rs.40 Crore (Central and State Govt. share being Rs. 36 Cr. and Rs. 4 Cr. respectively).”

In a social media post Union MoS Pratima Bhoumik expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Culture and Tourism Minister.

Taking to X, Bhoumik wrote, “I wholeheartedly thank Hon’ble PM Shri @NarendraModiji and Hon’ble Union Minister of Culture & Tourism, Shri @kishanreddybjpji for initiating the setting up of Thematic Galleries and Planetarium at Agartala, under my Tripura West Parliamentary Constituency.

In this connection Bhoumik also mentioned in X, “Since 2014, the Modi Govt. has been taking extraordinary steps to bring national and international focus to North East India. Our region isn’t an uncharted territory anymore. We are flourishing in full glory under the PM’s exemplary leadership.”
